I hit a wall today as I was working from home. The inertia was so heavy. Doing a small task took all of my focus and willpower. It was a bit of a black hole. Like a river blocked with rocks in its path flows with higher pressure, I was feeling this internally.
I recalled how Einstein would play the violin when he was at an impasse in his work. He described that working things out in another discipline brought renewed energy and loosened the knots that were blocking the forward motion.
I lifted my head from the struggle and changed gears. I listened to a 15 minute guided meditation. This gave me enough breathing room to do a short weights workout I'd been wanting to do for the last week. After the workout and some time outside, the heaviness I felt before lifted. I had actually metabolized the stuck energy. It felt miraculous.
How do you play the violin in your life?
